n Water: Cetyl alcohol is insoluble or only sparingly soluble in cold water. It may dissolve slightly in hot water but generally does not mix well with water. In Organic Solvents: It is soluble in many organic solvents, including: Ethanol Isopropanol Ether Chloroform Oils and fats In Oils: Highly soluble in oils and lipids, which makes it ideal for use in creams and lotions as an emulsifier and emollient.
